Abe Varner is an associate in the Atlanta office. He earned his J.D. from Georgia State University College of Law, magna cum laude, and his B.A. from the University of Georgia, magna cum laude.
He graduated law school with the honor of receiving the highest pro bono distinction by dedicating 150 hours to pro bono work. While in law school, he served as an Associate Legislative Editor on the Georgia State University Law Review. Mr. Varner was an Extern for Hon. Chief Justice Hugh Thompson, Georgia Supreme Court, and for the Hon. Judge Shawn LaGrua, Fulton County Superior Court. Mr. Varner also assisted prosecuting felony crimes with the Cobb County District Attorney's Office under Georgia's Third- Year Practice Act. In addition, he gained experience working as a graduate research assistant for Professor Caren Morrison, where he assisted with her studies on jurors' uses of social media at trial.
As a member of the Insurance Coverage practice group, Abe routinely counsels clients on coverage issues that arise throughout the southeast. This includes providing coverage opinions and litigating declaratory judgment actions in state and federal courts. He also represents carriers in regards to potential extra-contractual liability and in bad faith actions, as well on issues involving excess carriers and coverage.
