Stephanie McDonald is a Partner in the Brunswick office of Hall Booth Smith. She has maintained a diverse legal practice over the past 17 years, consisting of trial work in insurance defense, family law, criminal defense and personal injury law. Mrs. McDonald has extensive pre-trial and jury trial experience, having represented a variety of clients throughout her career.  Mrs. McDonald has received recognition from her peers for her trial work, receiving the Super Lawyers Rising Star recognition; Top 100 Trial Attorneys by the South Dakota Trial Lawyers Association; and Top 100 Trial Attorneys in South Dakota by the American Trial Lawyers Association.  Mrs. McDonald has trial experience in both federal and state court in both civil and criminal defense capacities.   
Mrs. McDonald was previously appointed by the Chief Federal District Court judge as the Federal CJA District Representative for the state of South Dakota, where she served for seven years.  During this time, she acted as a liaison between the federal court, federal public defender and CJA  attorneys to improve legal representation for indigent federal defendants.  In this capacity, she assisted in the official revision of the South Dakota CJA Plan and attended the national CJA Conference annually for updates in federal criminal law and other issues affecting federal clients.  Mrs. McDonald has handled numerous federal criminal cases in both an appointed capacity and privately retained capacity. While in South Dakota she also served on the Federal Rules Committee, Family Law Committee and the South Dakota Trial Lawyers Board of Governors.
