Sam Sykes is an associate in the Atlanta office of Hall Booth Smith. He earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from Atlanta's John Marshall Law School. While in law school, he received six CALI Awards for Academic Excellence and was a Sara and Michael Salomon Prize Award Recipient. He was active in the Student Bar Association, serving as secretary and 2 years as a class representative. He was also an Office of Academic Achievement Fellow from 2012-2014. While in law school, Mr. Sykes interned in all three legal communities (corporations, governmental, and private practice) to acquire invaluable insight for future clients.
Before moving into civil practice, Mr. Sykes served as an Assistant Solicitor-General in the State Court of Gwinnett County, gaining comprehensive courtroom experience. He has successfully prosecuted hundreds of criminal cases, solo-chaired multiple jury trials from voir dire to verdict, tried several bench trials, argued motions on behalf of the State, and negotiated a multitude of plea agreements.
An Atlanta native, Mr. Sykes attended Woodward Academy, and received his B.A. in Political Science from Southern Methodist University. Mr. Sykes is married to Laura Parker Sykes, and has one son. He and his family are members of Peachtree Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Sykes’ practice focuses heavily on representing and defending clients involved in general liability cases, to include slip and fall accidents, dog bites, HOA disputes, premises liability, products liability, trucking and automotive accidents, and cases involving catastrophic injuries. Mr. Sykes has represented general liability clients throughout the State of Georgia.
