Jeff Daniel is an Associate in the Atlanta office. He earned his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University. During law school he was a member of the Mercer Law Review and served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Marc T. Treadwell in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Georgia. Following graduation, Jeff was inducted into the Brainerd Currie Honor Society for his outstanding academic achievement and service to the law school. For excelling in Trial Practice, Evidence, and Civil Procedure courses, he received the Student Advocacy Award from the International Academy of Trial Lawyers. Prior to law school, Jeff earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Georgia, where he served on the University of Georgia Judiciary.
Jeff has a broad range of experience litigating commercial disputes in both state and federal court, including: contract disputes; shareholder derivative suits; civil RICO claims; accounting professional liability claims; employment litigation; and actions alleging various business torts, such as fraud, fraudulent transfer, tortious interference, and misappropriation of corporate business opportunities. Jeff has obtained favorable results for his clients in all phases of litigation, including dispositive motions, settlement, alternative dispute resolution, jury trial, and appeals.
In addition to business litigation, Jeff devotes a substantial portion of his practice to defending governmental entities and officials against a variety of claims, including civil rights claims, employment claims, whistleblower actions, class actions, claims based on special education services, and various common law tort claims. Though Jeff has significant trial experience, he frequently is able to prevail on such claims through skilled dispositive motions practice. Most recently, Jeff successfully argued before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit in defense of a summary judgment ruling in favor a school district in a complex and legally significant Title IX case.
Jeff has developed significant experience in helping clients realize their business goals. In addition to conducting the due diligence that can accompany any deal, he has served his clients in numerous other ways, such as: forming holding companies and operating subsidiaries; preparing corporate and organizational documents suited to each client's individual needs; advising businesses on permit and licensure requirements; and assisting with the negotiation and drafting of various agreements.
