Ashley Gowder Mitchell was born and raised in Homer, Georgia. Ashley graduated Magna Cum Laude with Honors from the University of Georgia in 2007, with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. While in college, she was extremely involved in campus organizations, including the Arch Society and University of Georgia Judiciary.
Ashley advocates for clients in high-stakes, high-exposure cases in state and federal courts in Georgia. Her broad range trial practice has afforded her the opportunity to represent both corporations and individuals in cases involving wrongful death, catastrophic injury, product liability, premises liability, transportation and construction, among others. She has often succeeded on summary judgment and has also successfully tried multiple jury trials to verdict. Ashley understands the issues and challenges of the transportation industry and works tirelessly to obtain the best possible results for her clients.
Ashley's general liability practice includes the defense of businesses and individuals in premises liability, subrogation, and motor vehicle accident claims at all stages of litigation. She is also experienced in settlement negotiations, mediations, and other dispute resolution processes.
Ashley has extensive experience in all areas of insurance coverage, including litigating declaratory judgment actions and bad faith cases. Ashley has provided coverage opinions in a wide variety of contexts, including the existence of coverage under commercial general liability policies, homeowner’s policies, and renters policies.
Ashley has been actively involved in special investigations and insurance fraud litigation since she began practicing law. She has successfully handled first party claims involving arson and fraud.
Ashley is experienced in handling litigation and resolving cases involving many aspects of the transportation industry. She has represented insurers and carriers within the industry in litigation pending in local courts as well as federal court. She has the experience and qualifications to respond to incidents within hours. As a member of Hall Booth Smith’s Rapid Response Team, Ashley is available 24 hours a day/7 days a week and can be on the ground quickly to organize experts or provide investigative assistance to begin preparing a defense when time is most critical.
