Terrell W. Benton Jr. was admitted to the Bar December 11, 1962. He has been a partner in the firm of Hall Booth Smith, P.C. since September 2003.
Terrell specializes in the representation of public school districts. Presently he serves as General Counsel to Clarke County School District, Athens, Georgia; Oconee County School District, Watkinsville, Georgia; and Walton County School District, Monroe, Georgia.
In addition to serving as General Counsel to three school districts, Terrell has served as Hearing Officer in Fair Dismissal Cases involving certificated employees of school districts in Berrien County, Cherokee County, DeKalb County, Fulton County, Hall County, Harris County, Madison County, Montgomery County, Newton County, Rockdale County, Towns County, Warren County, and Whitfield County.
Terrell is a member of the Executive Committee of the Counsel of School Board Attorneys, Georgia School Boards Association. He served as President of the Executive Committee in 1998 and 2004.

Terrell has represented the interests of insurers and private businesses in many employment matters including preparation and evaluation of employment agreements, restrictive covenants, independent contractor agreements, and broker agreements. He has also defended business entities against discrimination claims based on race, religion, national origin, sex disability and age. Terrell has represented employers in claims involving Title VII, FLSA, FMLA, ADEA, and ADA.
